Poverty, unemployment, lack of hope, lack of will. How does a small group of foreigners help transform the nature of a village? It seems Bhukwini is a place that only God can change -- it will take a miracle. So is our job to become the visible hands of God for these people? Conduits through which grace, mercy, and love can change hearts and attitudes? A thorough renewal of heart is needed here. It is the only way transformation will happen, and the only way it will be sustained. I hope this blog helps people understand the plight of South Africans living in the Transkei area, where people struggle to survive the results of years of Apartheid and devistation from AIDS. Where every day, people face challenges that we can barely comprehend in our wealthy lives.
